Parks and Recreation
Providing recreational opportunities for County residents and outdoor enthusiasts abroad. The County parks system consists of the Mauch Chunk lake park and encompasses 2820 acres of forestland and waterways. The Parks Department works towards conserving park natural areas for current and future recreational use. Recreational use of park areas includes biking, camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, picnicking, swimming, and cross-country skiing. The Parks Department operates year round with annual visitation exceeding 150,000.

Reservations for cabin and campsite rentals begin in January. The Mauch Chunk Lake Park is open for camping from mid-April to late-October. The park is also open daily for swimming and picnicking beginning Memorial Day weekend and ending Labor Day. A daily admission fee is required. Senior citizens and those with disabilities are admitted free. For rates and information contact the park office at (570) 325-3669. Office hours are 8:30 - 4:30 Monday-Friday and weekends during camping season.
